Inside the piece

Built from the inside out

What this piece is made of, layer by layer, and why we chose it. Tap a layer to read more.

Every frame starts as solid red beech, dried in a kiln to bring its moisture down before it is cut and joined. Drier wood moves less, so joints stay tight and the frame stays square.
Why it mattersThe frame is what you can't see and can't replace. Solid, dried beech is why the seat stays firm and quiet for years.
Seats are built on high-density foam. Denser foam holds its shape and support much longer under daily use than soft, light foam.
Why it mattersThe seat keeps its shape and its comfort, day after day.
The cover is a waterproof fabric, so drinks and splashes sit on the surface instead of soaking in.
Why it mattersEasy living with children, pets and coffee.
